The “Londonomachy” digital graphic work was included to the Modern Classicisms project that runs in the framework of The Classical Now exhibition at the Bush House, King´s College London, from 2 March – 28 April in collaboration with the Musée d’Art Classique de Mougins .
“The Classical Now” pairs the work of modern and contemporary artists with classical Greek and Roman antiquities, tracing the ways in which Graeco-Roman art has captured and permeated the modern imagination. It includes works of twentieth-century artists such as Pablo Picasso and Yves Klein, and leading contemporary artists including Damien Hirst, Alex Israel, Louise Lawler, Grayson Perry and Rachel Whiteread.
“Modern Classicisms” project seeks to develop the idea of contemporary responses to the Classical art in the artistic works. The artists reflect on how stories of classical mythology have shaped our modern self-understanding; how classical statues have moulded ideas about what our bodies are or should be; likewise, how the classical past has been exploited for various ideological ends.
